In April 2022, Aruba reached a recovery of 108%. Compared to April 2019, Aruba received 101,696 stay-over visitors in April 2022

2022 in comparison with 2019

ATA informs that for April our destination received a total of 101,696 stay-over visitors. Comparing April 2022 with April 2019-which was the last normal year of tourism, it is seen that Aruba recovered 108% of what was received in April 2019.

The 3 markets that are highlighted in the number of tourists that visited in April 2022 as well as in the degree of recovery in different regions are; the United States with 83, 033 visitors which represents a degree of recovery of 114% in comparison with April 2019, the Netherlands with 4,360 visitors which represents a degree of recovery of 119% in comparison with April 2019, and Colombia with 2,542 which represents a degree of recovery of 88% in comparison with April 2019.

2022 in comparison with 2021

2022 shows a stronger and more stable growth compared to 2021. Comparing April 2022 with April 202, you can see a growth of 73% in the quantity of stay-over visitors, from 58,774 visitors to 101,696 visitors.

Comparing April 2022 with April 2021 you can see once again that the 3 markets in different regions that grew the most in terms of stay-over visitors are; the United States with a growth of 29,560 stay over visitors which represents a growth of 55%, the Netherlands with a growth of 2,565 stay over visitors which represents a growth of 143%, and Colombia with a growth of1352 stay over visitors which represents a growth of 114%.

Markets 

North America remains the strongest market for Aruba and in April 2022 a total of 85,821 North American visitors came to Aruba. This is 84.4% of the total stay-over visitors. In April 2022, Europe brought 6,972 visitors to Aruba, which is 6.9% of the total stay-over visitors. A total of 6,744 visitors which represents 6.6% of stay-over visitors from Latin America; and 2.1% of the total stay-over visitors for April 2022- which is 2,159 visitors, visited our island from other parts of the world.

2022

In the first 4 months of 2022, Aruba received a total of 335,362 stay-over visitors, which represents a degree of recovery of 86% compared to the same months of 2019.

Tourism credits/ Central Bank of Aruba

Per the Central Bank, the tourism Credits (previously called Tourism Receipts) for 2021 contributed AWG 3,169.9 million to our economy, which is 65.5% more compared to the same period in 2020. This naturally was due to the global pandemic during which Aruba closed its borders temporarily from the middle of April 2020 till July 2020. Tourism Credits recovered by 85% compared to 2021 with 2019.
