ORANJESTAD – Aruba Airport Authority N.V.’s (AAA) Air Service Development Manager, Mrs. Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends was invited by Wingo to be present in Medellin for the exciting announcement that the airline partner will add 2 new direct service to/from Medellin, Colombia to their existing service from Bogota, Colombia, and Aruba.
Club Union in San Fernando Plaza (El Poblado) was the chosen venue to make this announcement in the presence of Medellin’s Tourism board and Antioquia’s government representatives and the Colombian press. Present at the press conference were Medellin’s Secretary of Economic Development Mr. Alejandro Arias Medellin Airport’s CEO Mr. Fredy Jaramillo , Wingo’s General Manager Jorge Jiménez , Mrs. Miriam Dabian, ATA’s Latin-American Director and Mr. Jordan Schlipken Croes Business Development Manager Aruba Tourism Authority Latinoamerìca.
The two weekly direct service to/from Medellin – Aruba will be provided on Wednesdays and Saturdays on board a B737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 189 seats.
On Wednesdays the flights will depart from Medellin at 2:18 PM. The return flight will be at 5:56 PM.
On Saturdays the flights will depart from Medellin at 10:08 AM, arriving in Aruba at 1:08 PM. The return flight will be at 1:46 PM to arrive in Medellin at 2:30PM
This translates into approximately 3,000 extra seats monthly to/from Aruba. With the additional service as of October 1st, 2022, Wingo will operate a total of 5 weekly flights from Colombia, being 3 from Bogota and 2 from Medellin.
The direct Medellin route is currently being served only by Sarpa Airlines, with 3 weekly flights. This means that Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Beatrix (AUA Airport) will have 5 weekly nonstop flights to/from Medellin as of October 1st, 2022.
