Gianni’s Group celebrates Earth Day at Azia Restaurant and Lounge

And introduces its GG Social Impact work

This past Saturday, Gianni´s Group made a big impact – with social impact. At the company’s Second Edition of “Earth Day – Candle Light Dinner”, over 140 guests celebrated the launch of the company´s “GG Social Impact” work. 

The event kicked off with a “Zero-Waste” Cocktail, where guests could enjoy the patio of AZIA Restaurant. After the welcome and networking opportunity, the CFO of the company, Daniele Ferrara, opened the official part of the event with a presentation of all the projects carried out by the company on Social Investment, Environmental Conservation, and Employee Wellbeing.

“Leading from the heart has been one of our guiding principles, embedded at the core of our company – now, we want to make sure that we cater to people, planet and profit – and help drive Sustainable Development in Aruba. Social Impact is our way to show leadership with action, not words” says CFO Daniele Ferrara, who just recently came back to the island after a period of taking a sabbatical from his role to volunteer for social projects in Africa, Nepal and India. 

“The past year, we have been working hard with a team of individuals from different areas of the company to develop our Social Impact Strategy, and we are very proud to announce that we have just recently joined the AHATA Environmental Committee as Board member. With this new role, we aim to foster strong partnerships in Aruba and beyond that gives back to the people through our dedication to service, embracing diversity and leading by example. Service is our guiding principle for everything we do – now we also want to serve the planet” added Deputy CEO and Social Impact Lead, Kirti Daryanani. 

Gianni´s Group, a local F&B holding company established in 1984, has been implementing a number of activities across their 13 restaurants and operations, showcasing their commitment to social impact through tangible projects through:

  • Waste Management (Recycling of paper, cooking oil, paper shreds)
  • Energy Productions and Circular Systems (solar panels, air-conditioning water)
  • Digitalization of our Services and Operations (GG2GO, CiaoGG, Software)

Gianni’s Group has also supported the Aruban local communities’ youth through fundraising activities such as “Walk and Run” and local organizations such as Schools of SVGA: “Pasadia Briyo di Solo”, Centro “Man na Obra”, Scol Caiquetio; and “Scucha nos”, SECA, Soccer Education Center Aruba, “A Brighter Future Academy” and Heart-Centered Leadership Foundation. 

The company’s ongoing work aims to create a balance between people, profit and planet, known as the triple bottom line. Matching the initiatives to the appropriate United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, also known as, UNSDG 3, 8, 12 & 17. These are namely good health & wellbeing, decent work, economic growth, responsible consumption and production and partnerships. This is led by the Social Impact Team, an addition to the Gianni’s Group organizational structure since 2022, which falls under the lead of the company’s Deputy CEO whom studied at the UN University for peace and HEC Paris both which included courses on sustainable practices. 

The concept of “Earth Day” has been created to raise awareness for Sustainable Development and the need for safeguarding the Environment, celebrated across the globe for 53 years. The guests enjoyed an elegant and sophisticated “dinner in the dark” with live music and entertainment, featuring a sustainable menu and organic wines by Arion Wine Company. 

Daniele Ferrara concluded the event by sharing the following with guests: “Looking at the current situation in Aruba, we at Gianni´s Group want to promote more innovative solutions when it comes to Waste, Recycling, Clean Energy and in general how we treat our island, putting people at the center of what we do. This has been our recipe for success in the past, and we believe it will also support the sustainable development of Aruba”.
