A Delta Airlines aircraft, departing from Reina Beatrix International Airport, encountered difficulties shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, with the registration N805DN, took off approximately 30 minutes ago and experienced issues during its ascent.
The engine of the airplane caught fire, and it immediately notified Aruba’s airport. It appears that a pigeon collided with the engine at the moment of takeoff.
Several residents of the Wayaca area reported hearing a very loud explosion, as many as three times, when the aircraft took off, prompting them to notify the relevant authorities.
This is a relatively new aircraft that made its inaugural flight in October 2013. The aircraft is a Boeing 737, with a capacity for 180 passengers.
